Single Cup Coffee Maker
- Refillable coffee pods are single unit adapters that fit into a standard coffee pot, allowing you to spoon in the coffee of your choice, pour the cup of coffee, rinse and reuse.
- When you finish your coffee you just dump out the grounds, rinse it out refillable coffee pod and it is ready for another cup.
- The refillable coffee pod is by far the most economical of all the coffee pod
choices. Most coffee pods are used on time only, once you pour your cup of coffee,
the pod gets tossed in the trash. This can become expensive. Coffee pods end up costing
on average between .25 ¢ and up to .75 ¢ per pod, depending on how much
you buy at once. Obviously the more pods you buy, the lower you pay per pod.
Nevertheless, you are still paying at the very least, around .25 ¢ per cup
in your own home. Yes, that is still cheaper than the $2.00 per cup (based on a
regular cup of coffee), you will pay at Starbucks. However, despite the price per
cup difference between coffee pods and coffee shops, a single cup coffee pod is
still much more expensive per cup in comparison to the pennies it costs you per cup
when you buy a bag of coffee and use a multi-cup coffee maker. So why would you
choose the more expensive process of single pod coffee? Simple. It makes a fantastic
cup of coffee, for one, and for two, coffee pods are very quick and easy to make.
Just pop in the coffee pod and press the button.
So how can you balance price and convenience with the coffee pods?
You buy a refillable coffee pod.
One that can be used over and over. With the refillable coffee pod, you will give up a little in the convenience category, but you will make up for that huge in the price column.
Our humble advice is to do both. Keep a box of single cup coffee pods on hand for when you want those special blends, gourmet selections and convenience, and purchase a refillable pod so you can save money by buying larger amounts of coffee in bags or cans for daily consumption.
In our household, we take all this a step further. I personally have a Keurig single cup coffee maker and I usually keep a box or two of single cup coffee pods, along with a K-cap to turn the throw-away coffee pods into refillable coffee pods (drastically brining down my price per cup), and also a multi-cup coffee maker for when family, friends, neighbors and in-laws stop by. - With refillable coffee pods, you also have the option of buying whatever coffee brand you like.
